During this time of year many people around the world celebrate by giving gifts to their friends and family.  There is an old saying which says “It is better to give then to recieve.” With this saying in mind, think about something that you can do for someone else this holiday season.  If your family does not celebrate during the holiday season, it’s still a kind gesture to do a good deed for someone else.  Type the one good deed that you will perform for someone else in the reply box below.

Explore audio production using Garage Band, Audio Recorder and iTunes. As a participant of this professional development strand you will have the opportunity to check out and discover other ways to engage your students using the audio production features available on your MacBook. Use this blog to share your ideas, successes and frustrations as you develop your audio project(s). Here’s your project assignment:

Create an audio file using Garage Band or Audio Recorder that can be used within your school building. Examples include: an informational podcast for staff or parents, read alouds that can be used for students, or an enhanced podcast that highlights a recent event at your school. Your audio production project will be shared at our next professional development session on February 25th. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and experiences during the process. Good Luck!

Barack Obama received 80% of the votes in Swansfield mock election.

All of the votes were counted and a winner was elected!  Swansfield students and staff members voted Senator Barack Obama as the next President of the United States of America.  Senator Obama received 80% of the vote versus Senator McCain’s 17% (with 3% selecting a third party candidate).  Now it’s time to share our thoughts about our experiences during the 2008 mock election.

On Thursday September 30th Swansfield Elementary School will hold it’s 2008 mock presidential election.  As students, you have all had the opportunity to register so that you may cast your vote for Senator Barack Obama or Senator John McCain.  As voting day for adults approaches, you should begin thinking about the importance of your right to vote as an American citizen.  Now that you have learned a few things about how the voting process works, you will need to respond to the following question:

  • Do you think voting is important? Why or why not?

Your response MUST include:

  • At least two complete sentences.
  • One fact you learned about the voting process.
